LEJOG Journal

Cycling Lands End to John O'Groats April 22nd 2011; 1000 miles, 10 days…will we make it?

This page is what will make all of our efforts worth while, so dig deep – we’d really appreciate your support.

If you’ve had a look around the site you’ll know by now what we’re doing, now I’d like to tell you why we’re doing it. We’re supporting two charities – Cancer Research UK and The Scleroderma Society. We are aiming to raise £2000 for each cause and we’d like you to help us by donating to whichever is most important to you. To help you decide how to donate, here is a little more info about why we have chosen these two charities.

The Scleroderma Society (donate)

Penny Wheeler

This is a cause that is very dear to us, as funds raised will be donated to a local sufferer, Penny Wheeler. Scleroderma is a rare and incurable condition in which the body’s immune system begins to attack it’s own tissues. Penny’s condition could be helped by a drug which is currently not prescribed on the NHS. Without the drug, her life expectancy may be as little as 2 years. With the drug, this could be extended by 5 years or more.

Your kindness would make a huge difference, please donate!

Cancer Research UK (donate)

Cancer Research UK is the worlds leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research. Over the past 40 years, people’s chances of surviving cancer have doubled, and Cancer Research UK has been at the heart of this through their work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer.

This charity is entirely funded by the public, and with most people’s lives being touched by cancer at some point, we are all agreed that this is an excellent charity to support. So please donate!
